Though this protected inner coastal waterfront town is filled with a quaint charm and authenticity all its own, New Bern is probably best known for its three centuries of history. Its waterfront location just up from the Atlantic, where the Neuse and Trent Rivers converge, has lent itself to an abundance of history happening hereāfrom tales of pirates and Revolutionary War stories to Civil War battles and even the invention of an American icon, Pepsi-Cola.
